Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s historic marriage equality ruling in 2015, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue any marriage licenses because of her personal, religious opposition to marriage for same-sex couples. The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵand the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Kentucky won a preliminary injunction on behalf of Rowan County couples enabling them to marry.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Mississippi today filed a lawsuit to challenge HB 1523, the anti-LGBT law that passed this spring. The lawsuit, which targets the Registrar of Vital Records, was filed on behalf of ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Mississippi members and Nykolas Alford and Stephen Thomas, a gay couple who are engaged to be married and face discrimination as a result of this law.

The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ, the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵof Nebraska and the law firm of Koenig | Dunne have filed a lawsuit in federal court on behalf of seven couples who seek state recognition of their marriages or who seek the freedom to marry in Nebraska.

The Supreme Court has consolidated six cases from four states on the issue of marriage equality. The ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵrepresents clients in Kentucky and Ohio.
